Look Through Any Doorway

If one were to ponder The Kinks' last great anthem, you’d be forgiven if you thought it was 1981’s “Better Things.” That was certainly my opinion before researching my book. I’m delighted to report that the distinction of last great Kinks anthem goes to this obscure rocker written by Dave Davies and released on the Did Ya EP in 1991, which no one bought because no one knew it existed. I mean, look at that artwork. How much time did the Columbia promo department spend on this? 30 seconds? Anyway, there's three terrible songs on Did Ya that sound totally '90s, a decent redo of "Days," and "Look Through Any Doorway," which features the classic Ray/Dave harmonies over a sweet descending chord progression, memorable bridge, memorable guitar solo, and solid prechorus or postchorus, maybe both. This is a genuine easter egg for lovers of all things Kink. Enjoy!
